Reporting Abuse

If you suspect a child is being abused, it should be reported to Medina County Job and Family Services (MCJFS) at

330.661.0800.

If a child is in immediate danger, please call 911.

The longer abuse continues, the greater the potential for serious and long-term emotional and psychological difficulties are for the child.

Jun 20, 2019

It was a historic night at the 7th Annual Children's Cup - A Night at the Races on May 4, 2019 when first-place finisher Maximum Security was disqualified and Country House was named the winner of the Kentucky Derby.

At The Children's Cup, guests placed bets on previously recorded races with horses named by sponsors. Sponsors came up with creative names for their horses such as Byrne It Up, Hay Girl, and Buzzard's Run. In addition to betting on the horses, attendees enjoyed bidding on 72 Silent Auction Baskets, a raffle for a two-night stay at Kalahari generously sponsored by R.W. Corwin, and a Derby Hat Contest.

For more information and photographs of the event, we recommend the great article and accompanying photographs by Russ and Angela Huston in Medina County Life.

Thank you to The Children's Cup Planning Committee: Toula Barlow, Annette Finley, Terry Grice, Sheila Jacobsen, Anna Guy-Leach, Diane Meckes, Megan Millikin, Kristen Minichello, Kris Quallich, Tracie Rose, and Rhonda Wurgler. Special thanks to Lisa Reynolds for designing the Derby Hats that were available for a donation during The Children's Cup.

Thank you to our guests for attending and to our sponsors for the support that makes this event and The Children's Center's services possible.
