Reporting Abuse

If you suspect a child is being abused, it should be reported to Medina County Job and Family Services (MCJFS) at

If a child is in immediate danger, please call 911.

The longer abuse continues, the greater the potential for serious and long-term emotional and psychological difficulties are for the child.

We are interning at The Children’s Center of Medina County as a part of our education requirements for The University of Akron’s Child Development program. We see many aspects of our Child Development education being incorporated into The Center on a daily basis. As an example, the interviewer, Shannon R., is knowledgeable of the age ranges of the children that come through and changes the presentation of the question being asked in order to better fit the cognitive developmental needs of each and every child. In our short time here at The Children’s Center of Medina County, it has been such an eye-opening experience for us. Seeing up close and personal the work that The Children’s Center provides for the children has helped us realize the impact they have had on these children to help them cope and deal with the issues they may be facing. We truly believe that The Children’s Center is such a crucial first step in helping sexually abused children begin the healing process.
