Reporting Abuse

print

Each and every one of us has a moral obligation to protect our community’s children. If you suspect that a child has been abused, do not hesitate, even for a moment, to report your suspicion.

The Child Abuse Hotline Number is   330-661-0800

You do not need proof of abuse—just a good-faith concern regarding a child’s welfare.
Be prepared to tell the hotline the child’s name, where they live and/or go to school, and your concern.
It is helpful to investigators if you are willing to give your name, BUT anonymous reporting is perfectly acceptable.
The hotline is staffed by professionals with Medina County Job and Family Services, who are expertly trained in responding to suspected abuse
An initial investigation helps determine whether the child needs to be brought to Children’s Center for an interview and, possibly, for a medical examination. The investigators schedule an appointment at Children’s Center to proceed with the investigation.
As a reporter of suspected abuse, you may not know the outcome of an investigation, but know in your heart that you may have been the one person who saves a child from further maltreatment.
